In Math this week, the students got "physical" to practice the concept of place value!  Charts labeled ten thousands, thousands, hundreds, tens, and ones were posted on the whiteboard. Students were given paper with single-digit numbers on them.  Whenever a random four- or five-digit number was called, each group was challenged to move quickly to the charts and stand under the one with their number's place value.  The students had fun using their minds and their bodies with this activity!                  In Social Studies, we've been focusing on map and globe skills. Students learned how to use a compass rose to show cardinal and intermediate directions on a U.S. map.  We began working on a Social Studies project based on the book, Me and the Map!
