It was a pleasure meeting many of you at last night’s Back-to-School Night!  For those of you who were unable to be there, I’ll be sending home some information you missed.

Today the students received their Reading/Language Arts Interactive notebooks!  The purpose of an Interactive Notebook is to help students organize and process the “big ideas” they are learning in class. Using foldables and other graphic organizers, students will break down concepts such as “making inferences,” “parts of speech”  and “genres” into smaller parts, while adding examples that help to explain each concept.  The notebooks will serve as an anchor for the standards taught, as well as a reference that can be used throughout the year.  Best of all, students take ownership of their notebooks because they help to create them!
